GOAN BEACHES

Anjuna Beach |
Anjuna Beach is popularly known as
the freak capital of the world and not without reasons. It claimed
popularity for its Trance Parties and the Hippies who tried
to synthesize the spiritual traditions of the East and the art,
ideas and the music of the West. |
The most relaxing beach in north Goa.
Turtles use this beach to lay their eggs so the beach is a protected
area and hawkers aren't allowed there (to constantly wave bits
of tat in your face like they do at other beaches). There are
about three cafes and then a huge expanse of untamed coast -
if you're lucky you can walk for half an hour without seeing
another soul. You'll need scooters or a car to get to the beach
as it's quite out of the way. |

Morjim Beach |

Ashwem Beach |
The Goa Ashwem beach has its own idyllic
charm and is quite appealing, as it is a very quiet and clean
place. Even the waters are safe for swimming. In reality the
coastline is one long, palm-fringed delight the powdery sands
– usually silver, occasionally dusted golden – only
interrupted from time to time by inlets, estuaries or headland.
Whether secluded and peaceful or broad and lively, they exist
for all to enjoy for none are private.
|
Calangute Beach is only nine miles
north from the Goan capital, Panaji. Visitors can either take
up accommodations near the beach or make day trips from Panaji. The
beach is about four miles long and covered with palm trees.
November to February is considered the peak tourist season,
and tourists avoid Goa in general during the rainy months, but
the truth is that there is no bad time to visit Calangute. |

Calangute Beach |

Baga Beach |
10-km west of Mapusa, Baga beach is
an extension of Calangute where even the locals are unable to
decide where one ends and the other begins It is a fishing beach
with international touriststs resting in the sun and domestic
visitors paddling. The fact is that the sand here isn't either
white or gold but brown. There is the grove of palms that comes
fairly close to the water's edge. |
The Vagator beach is the most photographed
beach in Goa. Its northern half fronts a bay that curves from
the headland to the hillock crowned by the Chapora Fort. Between
the headland and the hillock, surf spreads in skirts of white
lace and the palms stand far back from the water. At the tip
of the headland are groups of sea-washed rocks popular with
honeymooners and others who want to be left alone. To the south
of the headland are more outcrops of rocks cupping little pockets
of sand and interesting tidal pools. And on the headland you
will find snack stalls, coconut sellers, and persuasive peddlers
of trinkets and shells. |

Vagator Beach |

Candolim Beach |
Candolim beach is closer to the famous
Fort Aguada. The beauty of the beach is increased by the view
of fort on one side and sea on other side. Candolim is a perfect
place for lazying around. |
Sinquerim Beach is one of the most
beautiful Goa beaches. It is one of a series of tranquil and
spectacular stretch of sand and an ideal place for swimming.
The beach is quickly becoming a must-visit Goan destination.
The tourists descend upon the beach for its pristine and peaceful
setting. Located at a distance of 13 kms from Panaji, the Sinquerim
beach lies adjacent to the Aguada beach. |
